Madrid, Casa de Galicia, 17 February 2009

The Toledo International Center for Peace (CITpax) and Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (CHD) in collaboration with Casa de Galicia organised on 22 January 2009 a round-table titled  “The Role of Private Diplomacy: the CHD Experience”. During the closed doors meeting, participants explored the role, the capacity and the potential and the future of the Second Track Diplomacy or Private Diplomacy in the current international context. The debate focused on the experience of the CHD, undoubtedly, one of the most prominent organisations in this field. Ambassador Martin Griffiths, Director of the CHD and Andrew Marshall, Deputy Director, shared their views on Private Diplomacy and the work of their organisation with a group of experts from the most influential Spanish think tanks and organisations such as CIDOB, the Real Instituto Elcano, FRIDE, IEMed, FP Spanish Edition, Concordia 21, and the Club of Madrid among others, as well as with representatives from the Office of the Spanish President and the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defence.
